For over 25 years, Southwest Care Center has been providing exceptional healthcare to the communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM. We are a non-profit, FQHC-LAL providing medical, behavioral health, case management, community outreach, diabetes education, and pharmacy services. We are proud to offer gender equity medicine, syringe exchange, and HIV/Hep C treatment, testing and other services within our communities.

Southwest Care Center is currently seeking an experienced full-time Clinical Nurse Educator. This position supports all SCC locations in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; therefore, candidate must reside in the local market area of Albuquerque or Santa Fe, New Mexico and able to travel between the two cities as needed.

Position Details:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for providing clinical education services which ensure SCC team members are competent to provide high-quality patient care in accordance with national guidelines and practice standards. The Registered Nurse Educator will collaborate with Chief Medical Officer and Clinic Managers to identify educational needs, develop a clinical education strategy, and deliver educational programming. Additionally, this role will coordinate continuing education initiatives for nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all clinical education activities, and maintain their own clinical skills in adult and pediatric primary care.

Position responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Identify and prioritize clinical education needs through regular interactions with clinic staff and Clinic Managers.
  • Design and implement annual and ad hoc education and clinical support for nursing staff and healthcare professionals to enhance patient care quality.
  • Enhance onboarding protocols for clinical staff to ensure comprehensive training and successful role transitions.
  • Ensure compliance with SCC policies and procedures, proposing updates as needed to maintain clinical relevance.
  • Serve as a clinical role model by actively engaging in learning, patient safety practices, and policy evaluation.
  • Provide clinical mentorship to nursing staff and medical assistants.
  • Monitor trends and implement evidence-based educational strategies to meet quality standards.
  • Participate in clinical leadership discussions and function as a clinical resource to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Identify and report patient safety concerns, clinical errors, and near misses promptly to aid in resolution.
  • Support professional growth and development of self and SCC clinical staff through educational programs.
  • Stay informed about best practices and trends in nursing education.
  • Utilize innovative technologies to enhance teaching methods and staff learning.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and people skills.
  • A key contributor to the Infection Control Program at SCC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Highlights:

  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a nurse educator role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Current unrestricted NM nursing license.
