For over 25 years, Southwest Care Center has been providing exceptional healthcare to the communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM. We are a non-profit, FQHC-LAL providing medical, behavioral health, case management, community outreach, diabetes education, and pharmacy services. Southwest Care Center is currently seeking an experienced full-time medical staff office coordinator. This position supports all SCC locations in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; therefore, candidates must reside in the local market area of Albuquerque or Santa Fe, New Mexico, and be able to travel between the two cities as needed.
Position Details:
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Staff Office Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and execution of duties related to the Medical Staff Office, including credentialing, privileging, and maintenance of Medical Staff Policies and Procedures. This role is responsible for medical staff meeting management and participation in various committees as requested, maintaining appropriate documentation in accordance with the medical staff office policies and procedures, and preparing information as requested for presentation to the Board of Directors, auditors, and other stakeholders. The MSO coordinates with and supports other SCC departments (e.g.Nursing, Quality, Management, Health Informatics) to provide data used in monitoring of various staffing metrics as requested
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Privileging, Credentialing and Licensure
a. The incumbent is organizationally responsible to the Chief Medical Officer and as such has overall accountability and responsibility for coordinating the Medical Staff credentialing, privileging, and licensure process in accordance with established bylaws.
b. Assists providers with applications for state licensure and applications for prescriptive privileges at both the state and federal levels as needed.
c. Processes new providers for initial appointments and reappointments to the SCC Medical Staff.
d. Ensures the credential and privileging processes are consistently applied for every applicant.
e. Maintain systems to identify (and disseminate to others) medical staff members and their respective privileges, prepare and maintains other related records and reports (databases.) Oversees the completion, processing, and filing of medical malpractice applications for all providers.
2. Assists the Chief Medical Officer or Director of Quality with the appropriate routing and management of clinical complaints regarding providers as requested. Documents the appropriate steps in the peer review process according to medical staff policies and procedures.
3. Provides supportive services to medical staff leaders in fulfilling the responsibilities of their offices. Participates with the same in developing policies and procedures for the medical staff and in monitoring the continuity of medical staff activities. Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team approach to ensure physician concerns are addressed through established medical staff processes. Coordinates meetings and training as needed.
4. Coordinates with the Quality Department to ensure facilitation of ongoing professional practice evaluation, including service excellence and patient satisfaction monitoring. Participates in department and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities. Continuously evaluates work process and redesign; understands role in ensuring quality/performance improvement, productivity, and service delivery to meet stakeholder needs. In collaboration with the Quality Department, monitor and maintain compliance with Meaningful Use attestations for providers.
5. Create, edit, and maintain provider schedules in appropriate software. Manage provider time-off approvals and relay potential provider coverage issues with the CMO for resolution. Assists the CMO with time card reporting and managing time-off requests. Assists medical directors with on-call scheduling.
6. Coordinate with CQM, Health Informatics, and other appropriate SCC personnel to obtain PCMH Level III across all SCC campuses.
7. Assists in the coordination of onboarding schedules for new clinical and medical staff. Ensure providers are scheduled for and attend appropriate EMR training.
8. Coordinates and maintains agreements for interpretation services for all clinics. Coordinates translation of clinical documents.
9. Prepares reports as needed (e.g., unsigned images report in the EMR, HealthStream compliance reports)
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidate Highlights:
- A minimum of two years working in a healthcare setting where credentialing & privileging is the primary duty is preferred.
- Associate’s degree or technical program in healthcare discipline, related field, equivalent combination of education and experience
